A little clarity before you explore
Terms of Use
Last updated: October 6, 2026
These terms govern your use of FoodFinder, an independent community food directory maintained by MM. By using the site, you agree to these terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. If you do not agree, please stop using the site.
1. What FoodFinder provides
FoodFinder helps you discover restaurants, cafés, quick bites, bakeries and sweet shops. It is an informational directory, not a restaurant, booking agent, delivery service, payment agent or food-safety certification service. Listings are not endorsements and are not ranked by paid placement. Decorative food illustrations do not show the actual venue or its menu.
2. Coverage and accuracy
Starter listings are dated open-data snapshots. Live searches show a limited area around a city center or your approved location, with a result cap. The city list includes many cities but not every settlement. A place missing from results may still exist. Map records can be incomplete, outdated, duplicated, misplaced or closed. We do not guarantee live hours, prices, ratings, menu availability, accessibility, travel time or service quality.
Confirm essential details directly with the venue before traveling. For allergies, dietary restrictions or other food-safety needs, ask the venue about ingredients and preparation. A cuisine label is not a guarantee that a particular dish is available or safe for you. Directions and distances are informational; follow local conditions and safe travel practices.
3. Free access and service availability
Browsing is currently free. The site uses bundled data and shared open-data services; availability depends on network conditions, provider policies and free-tier quotas. We may limit, pause or change features to control usage. We do not promise unlimited searches, uninterrupted service, permanent availability or a particular response time. Optional support does not purchase guaranteed service, a listing, an endorsement or priority review.
4. Accounts and administrator access
Browsing does not require an account. Google sign-in is required for private submissions and authorized administrator functions. You must use an account you are entitled to use. Keep your Google account secure, use multi-factor authentication where available and sign out on shared devices. An email address alone does not grant admin access; the server verifies the signed-in identity. Do not attempt to bypass access controls or impersonate an editor or venue.
5. Suggestions, corrections and uploaded material
Submit accurate information in good faith, with permission to share any text or image. Do not submit spam, unlawful content, malicious code, misleading business claims, copyrighted material without permission, private personal information, or material that infringes others’ rights. A suggestion enters a private review queue and is not automatically published. We may edit, reject, archive or remove content for accuracy, safety, relevance or legal reasons. Review times are not guaranteed.
You retain any rights you own in submitted content. By submitting material for a public listing, you give the operator a non-exclusive permission to review, reproduce, resize, edit for clarity and publish it for the directory, subject to applicable law and your rights. Private privacy requests are not submitted for public publication. Do not grant rights you do not hold.
6. Acceptable use
Do not disrupt the site, overload shared services, automate abusive queries, attempt unauthorized database access, bypass quotas, distribute malware, or use the directory for harassment or fraud. The open datasets retain their own licenses. Use their licensed download sources for bulk data rather than overwhelming the interactive website or public map services.
7. Open-data and other rights
OpenStreetMap-derived data is credited to OpenStreetMap contributors and is made available under the Open Database License (ODbL). The bundled starter dataset is downloadable from the footer. City data is adapted from GeoNames under CC BY 4.0. We select fields and package these datasets for the guide; no endorsement by those providers is implied. Venue names and logos remain subject to their owners’ rights. Open-data licenses do not automatically license unrelated site artwork or third-party photographs.
8. Outside services and support payments
Links to venue websites, Google Maps, OpenStreetMap, Google sign-in and Stripe lead to services governed by their own terms. FoodFinder is not responsible for their content, availability or transactions. If you choose to support the project, read the Stripe checkout description and verify the recipient, amount and currency before paying. Coffee $5, Burger $10, Big meal $15 and Donation / charity are support labels, not food orders. We make no claim that the operator is a registered charity or that payments are tax-deductible. For payment questions or refunds, use the merchant contact on your receipt; applicable consumer rights remain in place.
9. Privacy
The Privacy Policy explains location requests, local saved places, authentication, submissions, provider processing and deletion choices. Do not use the directory to collect or misuse other people’s personal information.
10. Disclaimers and responsibility
To the extent permitted by law, the directory is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, fitness for a particular purpose or uninterrupted operation. You remain responsible for deciding where to go, confirming details and assessing suitability. To the extent permitted by law, the operator is not liable for indirect or consequential losses arising from inaccurate listings, service outages, external links or your dealings with venues. Nothing in these terms excludes liability or consumer rights that cannot lawfully be excluded, including mandatory protections in your jurisdiction.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms and display a new effective date. Material changes apply prospectively to the extent required by law. No specific governing law or dispute forum is designated here; applicable law and mandatory protections determine those matters. For a listing correction, rights concern or other site issue, use Contact / corrections. Payment disputes should also be raised with the merchant or payment provider identified in your transaction.
